Pleo Review
Now just before I start getting into this, this robot is not a toy, although it may appear as though it is a toy because it is a baby dinosaur it is not a toy its an advanced robot that is much more advanced than robosapien or any other robot commercially available. This dinosaur or “Pleo” weighs more than a cat and has:
- 2 32-bit microprocessors – central and image processing
- 4 8-bit Sub-processors – motor control
- 14 motors
- over 100 custom designed gears
- 2 microphones
- 8 skin sensors
- 4 foot switches
- 14 force feedback sensors one per joint
- orientation tilt sensor
- infrared mouth sensor – object detection
- Camera based vision
- an SD card slot with mini USB port and an infared transceiver
So I guess you could say he is an artificial life form which Ugobe says: “Pleo: a ugobe life form”, Anyway moving on, he can learn pretty much anything like sit, shake hands, balance on two legs, sing, play dead etc. he also has different modes like guard dinosaur mode and Godzilla mode etc. and to top it off he has different changeable moods like Halloween mood and Christmas and whatever else there is on the site there is a lot of things you can customize internally and externally, getting onto externally modifying him well apparently ugobe pleo accessories are going to be out soon so they will most likely have shirts and toys for pleo and possibly beds.
The number one thing I loved about Pleo was that he has no remote he basically just decides what he wants to do he freely walks around everywhere and wont fall of the stairs or anything because his sensors stop him. Pleo also has software updates his latest version as of now is Life OS 1.1 I believe. There is so much potential with pleo not only because of software updates and software modification they have also released an SDK so developers can make apps for pleo which is awesome there were 2 apps available last time I checked but yeah people are developing for pleo which is always good. Does your adjustable beds allow ready access to my bedside tables? Most adjustable beds when you are raised up at the head move you away from the wall and therefore your bedside table. The unique wall hugging BetterRest bed always keeps you next to your table.
In the beginning just remember it was darked and then someone smiled! try this:
