Logitech Z-5500 Speaker System Review
Yes, I just upgraded my speaker system yesterday and I decided to get the Logitech Z-5500’s as they looked the best and they were the loudest. Ok the first thing I noticed about this system was that it has an awesome electronic audio control system which can accept Optical audio Coax audio and 6CH Audio which is your standard audio connection that comes with pretty much all computer speakers.
I am pleased to say that this system can output 5.1 surround sound even though macs are not meant for that but because this speaker system has Optical audio I hooked it up to my Mac Pro and all speakers were outputting sound which is great plus its 1000Watts its insanely loud.
Aesthetically it looks great you can take the black cover off and it will expose the silver speaker casing which has THX and Logitech written on it which also looks great and just compliments its style. Now the pictures below have pics of it setup but it also has pics of all of its connections which I personally take interest in especially when someone is reviewing it so I put that in there for everyone, enjoy!.

Hey just thought Id let you know its much better when you do a voice over.
Cool vid those speakers must rock.
I’ve got the Z-2300’s as I could’nt find space for all of those speakers
:)
@Cal: Thanks man, I think voiceovers are better as they just sound more professionally clearer, and funny you should say you have the Z-2300’s cause those were my previous speakers before I got the Z-5500’s :D and they were great speakers, good choice in speakers btw 400watts in just 2 speakers thats crazy lol and the sub is of great quality :).
Pretty much all macs accept optic audio. I have my z-5500 working on my imac, you just need to use 3.5mm epic adapters. All the new laptops have this and also the airport express. It’s very smart for apple to put optic and normal 3.5mm in the same jack.
@Nick: Yeh man its a smart move from Apple, wow I didn’t know the Airport express had it though thats awesome, thanks for the comment man.
I think surround sound systems give us cinema experience in our own home. That’s why it becomes ever more popular and affordable. Right ?
@maxel: Thanks for the comment man, Yeh for sure man thats why it is popular.
Nice work guys. Keep the comments going.
Hey, How did you Connect your Speakers to your Mac
@Sonny: Hey man, I connected it through optical audio on my Mac Pro you can get a Toslink to Optical Mini Adaptor cable for your Imac to do the same thing. An example would be here: http://www.headphone.com/accessories/adaptors/toslink-to-optical-mini-adaptor.php
